What do you think?
« on: May 08, 2007, 06:48:43 PM »
Hey Guys
I was talking with Mark this passed weekend and he thought this would be cool as did I if we could run a race something like this.

It would be an 1/8th scale(only because we could get enough entry's) race with 2 qualifiers and long mains I am thinking something like this

20 min C main
30 min B main
45 min A main

If we got started at 10:00 am we could be running mains by 3:00 depending on turn out. If we get as many entry's as this past weekend it would be a blast.

Chime in. What do you think?

I TOTALLY AGREE  We run 15 minutes and that is not nearly enough in my opinion, Evey race I went to over the winter and a few races in New England have had no less than a 30 min A main

Keeping times down was due to the electric vehicles.  Since electric usually could only run 6-8 min would not have been fair for them to marshal a nitro for 45 min.  If nitro only marshaled nitro in mains would be a lot easier on all.

I see the point about marshalling, but I'm sure we could work something out with nitro drivers marshalling nitros.  That doesn't seem like a show stopper.

This idea is ONLY for 1/8th scale nitro. Ya the marshaling thing would not be fun for an electric guy. Nitro ONLY EVENT

Come on Sal, I'm nice to you guys , why can't we all just get along ? It would just be better for business on both ends.
I feel all could benefit with a bit of cooperation and coordination between tracks. Both places are fun places to race at ! And surprising very different ,this I think is what makes it fun? Am I all wet here ?

Maybe we can work it into a regular race day with Nitro only running 2 quals and longer mains and Electric doing double mains or something along those lines.  Keep in mind, we need to make sure those in the lower mains stick around to marshal the longer main.  I can only "police" the marshalling issue so much, I do feel its ok for someone to "remind" their fellow racer that they should be marshalling.

We did start using a new rule last weekend that worked well.  If you don't marshal or have a replacement marshal for the race after yours you will be dropped from the next round.  Lets just say we didn't drop anyone from a round, but we did have to chase a few for the mains.  They figured, it doesn't matter to me, I'm already done for the day.  Not a very fair attitude.  All I can say is that makes for bad Karma that will certainly rear its ugly head when its least wanted.  I can say that and that I will drop a person from their next round for not marshalling, even if its on their next race day. -_-

Now lets plan for it

What do you think Todd ? want to set this race up on a Sunday. For me, trophy's don't really matter I just want to race a long main but thats up to you.

But all who said they liked this idea have to show up for this to be a great race event

This should be the format for all large races. It,s the norm everywhere else, we just need to conform.......

Who even runs electric outdoors anymore...............

I have both electric and nitro an I still enjoy running electric outdoors.  So If a nitro race event is to happin on a Sunday I would recommend at lease 2-4 weeks advance notice for eveyone.  Allows those who don't want to play in it time to adjust schedule.
