Transponder Shuffle
« on: January 13, 2007, 12:13:19 AM »
During nights where there are more track transponders than racers it would be great if you could have an assigned transponder for the entire night.  It seems right now that one race you are black 3, next race green 6, etc.

Is there a reason that it is done like that?

The computer is the one who assigns the house transponders each race.  The house transponder could be assigned to a person just like a personnel one however this will cause a major headache and problem for the race director.  As each night of racing the director would have to erase the assignment  since more people could be racing other nights.  Overall it is easier to let the computer do it so as not to have the same number assigned to more than one person on a night.  Most of all better to let the house transponder recharge after each race so the computer has a strong signal to receive.
To those about to loose it. Go for it. You can't take it with you.

Also, racers tend to treat them like personal transponders and forget to take them out, and they go home with racers.
ROAR rules help keep the available classes organized, fair, competitive, controlled, and cheaper. That is what makes racing fun. Without rules and organization, its just bashing, and that is free in your own backyard, why pay to bash in somebody else's backyard?
